Since the November election, our communities have shown that we are prepared to fight. We have met hatred and bigotry with a renewed commitment to progressive values. Town halls are seeing record turnout, solidarity demonstrations and speak-outs abound, and women are filing to run for office in unprecedented numbers.

Among those women prepared to fight is our very own Ana del Rocío. Less than two weeks after the election, Ana declared her intent to run for a seat on the David Douglas School Board, saying, "I need to be able to look my son in his eyes and believe myself when I promise him a future of freedom and opportunity."

Ana will not rest until the children and families of David Douglas receive the quality, accessible education they deserve. As a dedicated public servant, former teacher, and pro-choice mother of two, Ana's voice is sorely needed in David Douglas. If elected, Ana will be the only board member with experience as a public educator, the only board member with a young child enrolled in public school, and one of the first to be elected as a person of color in an extraordinary diverse district.

It's time for us to step up and support Ana in the same bold way that she has stepped up for the children and families of David Douglas. Please join us!
